Most local industries rely on raw ore extraction, creating a significant gap in the supply of refined, pearlescent additives required for the growing beauty and personal care sector in Harare and Bulawayo.
In the automotive and construction sectors, there is a rising demand for automotive mica powder to withstand the harsh UV exposure and extreme temperature fluctuations characteristic of the Southern African climate. Current local production often lacks the particle size consistency required for high-end metallic finishes.
Furthermore, the shift toward industrial modernization in Zimbabwe has led to an increased adoption of modified plastics. However, the lack of specialized reinforcing fillers like mica often limits the mechanical properties of locally manufactured plastic components used in mining and agriculture.
